Help Get Rid of Systemic Yeast Overgrowth

Systemic yeast overgrowth is very prevalent in the United States and I believe an unspoken health epidemic. After guiding thousands of customers for many years on this issue, it’s fair to say that most doctors don’t understand it or look for it or know what to do about it…other than throwing another pharmaceutical at it, which does NOTHING to balance it.

The historical unfolding of industrialization, factory farming, mass-medication of antibiotics and synthetic estrogen through the food supply and (in the 1950s) convincing women not to nurse their babies have all lead millions of people into the health mess they’re in. In truth, our FIRST line of defense for proper digestion and quality health is beneficial flora—good bacteria—probiotics, and that’s what’s missing. Without proper colonization of the good flora throughout the alimentary canal, human health is severely compromised.

So if you’re dealing with chronic bloat, gas, thyroid imbalances, adrenal fatigue, breathing/asthmatic problems, menstrual imbalances, endometriosis, fibromyalgia, eczema, psoriasis, rectal itching, sinus/ear/throat/thrush infections, vaginal or urinary infections, fibroids, anxiety/depression/mental confusion/brain fog, sensitivity to smells/solvents/chemicals, nail fungus/athlete’s foot/jock itch, extreme sugar and carb cravings…honor your body and know that it’s asking for help and NOT another pharmaceutical, especially an antibiotic!

Changing what you’re eating and being on the right supplement protocol is really the answer for most imbalances in the 21st century. It’s the FIRST step to balancing most of what ails the American people.

Come visit us today and we’ll help guide your supplement protocol.

WAKE UP TO GMO’S!

We have a lot of cool things going on at the store this Fall and hope you’ll join in on them!

October is National GMO Awareness month and having genetically modified organisms in our natural food supply is a subject we take very seriously at Health Foods by Claudia. It is an issue that many Americans are just becoming aware of and really don’t quite understand yet. But we’re doing our part to help that change.

One of the wonderful non-profit organizations we support is the NON-GMO Project. They’re doing important work on GMO education and are helping companies ‘certify’ that the ingredients they’re using in their products are GMO free. It’s a big undertaking and I’m grateful they are there, supporting companies and consumers to better understand this issue; they are making a difference.

All through the month of October, we are participating in NON-GMO Awareness month by offering great savings on the companies that are taking a stand. Also look for GMO FYI’s all around the store; it’s an easy way to learn more about this important issue and how it is adversely affecting your health and our world.

On Saturday October 12, 2013 we have committed to donate 5% of our sales that day back to the NON-GMO Project and we’re very excited about it. We’ll have lots of great savings and some give-a-ways too! Help us say ‘thank you’ to an organization that is helping all of us.

Also we are very involved in the Ohio initiative to mandate the labeling of all foods and food ingredients that have GMO’s in them. It is an innate right for humans to eat food of natural origins and when that has been tampered with, we have the right to know. If you are an Ohio citizen and would like to be involved in our LABEL THE TRUTH OHIO campaign please check out our website and join with us to get truthful labeling on ‘foods’ that have are genetically manipulated. It is our right to know!

One other important thing to mention; we have lots of delicious, safe organic candy to offer all your goblins at Halloween! So come check out our selection of goodies and remember…if it’s ‘certified organic’ its certified NO GMO’s too. After all…we don’t want our adorable goblins becoming someone’s science experiment!

In peace and wellness, Blessings and peace,

Claudia

As the New Year gets under way, consider making a commit to yourself to embrace positive choices on a daily basis. Let your journey to wellness begin in your heart and unfold as an everyday experience. Rather than making a New Year’s Resolution which may be too hard to live up too, approach quality life style change in baby steps and ones that you can feel good about! So here are some simple baby steps to consider…

Switch to butter, coconut oil or any of the wonderful natural fats and oils that are available and DITCH THE MARGARINE!

If you’re really daring, start reading the food labels in your kitchen for the words ‘hydrogenated fats and oils’. Make a list of what the foods are and 1 at a time find the replacement for that item WITHOUT those nasty fats and oils. We are happy to help you discover all your favorite foods made with safer ingredients.

If you’re drinking commercial milk, consider going “organic”! All that simply means is that you are willing to purchase milk produced from healthy cows that are NOT being injected with toxic growth-enhancing drugs which are dangerous for them AND you and your family.

If you’re already drinking “organic” milk, consider exploring other options like coconut, hemp or almond milk. Personally I’m not a fan of soy milk (for many reasons) but we’ll leave that for another discussion!

Doing anything that says “diet” on the label? Consider this…aspartame, the common chemical in foods with that label, is toxic to human health and VERY addictive. So consider weaning off it and exploring other sweeteners like stevia, xylitol, agave, or others. We’re here to guide you to the right one for your needs and remember…even though you’ve been promised that aspartame will help with your weight loss program, it was proven years ago by some really smart people that it really doesn’t help with weight loss…those were just the commercials telling you that!

Drink more water and make it purified! We have offered ‘reverse osmosis’ water for 23 years now and our customers LOVE the taste…orrather…no taste! Just clean and thirst-quenching!

If you haven’t explored natural, safe body care products, come on in and check out the many ‘testers’ we have around the store for lotions and soaps. There are no toxic chemicals like ‘parabens’ (petroleum-based chemicals) in any of our products so a little at a time, change what you’ve been using to wonderful safe products. Remember that whatever you put ON your skin goes INTO your body. So keep it safe, clean and natural…your skin will love you for it!

Consider doing the same with your everyday household cleaning supplies. All the ones we’ve been raised to know and use are releasing toxic odors into our homes so…a little at a time switch out some of what you’ve been using to something ‘green’ and safe. We have a great selection of cleaning products to explore. Many of our customers have started with changing their dish soap or laundry soap. You’ll love it!

One more suggestion on your road to wellness…many commercial perfumes and colognes contain petroleum based chemicals too (yes, even the very expensive ones!) Exploring different essential oils/blends are a wonderful way to smell great AND be healthy!

Remember…you have to create your own good health and it’s definitely worth the journey.

Cheer’s to every ones good health for the New Year and beyond!

Blessings and peace,

Claudia

Newsletter – June 2012

Thank you to everyone that took the time to call their legislators to stop Senator Durbin’s Amendment that would have placed unnecessary and expensive regulations on responsible supplement companies and ultimately, our ability to access them.

Because of the voice of the American people, in harmony with the Natural Products Industry working together, we can celebrate another victory in protecting our right to access quality vitamins, minerals and herbs without being hindered by unjust regulations. Thank you to Senator Tom Harkin for calling for a vote to table this amendment; the final vote was 77-20. Bravo to everyone for being active to protect our freedom!

As a nation, we must stay vigilant and know that this victory does not ensure our future for health freedom. As consumers learn about the power of quality supplements and our ability to heal our selves, the forces that financially oppose this liberty will continue to interfere with our rights.

Let us all continue our work as one voice!

Blessings and peace, Claudia

2012 Legislative Updates: Senate bill 1310

This bill has been introduced by Senator Dick Durbin (D) from Illinois. He has been serving as a senator since 1996. He is the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee’s Financial Services and holds the second highest ranking position in the Senate. He introduced SB 1310 in June, 2011. It is named The Dietary Supplement Labeling Act of 2011. If passed, this bill would amend the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938.

There are different interpretations with any bill and this one is no exception. Without an understanding of the history of the supplement industry or for those whose economic interest lies with disease and pharmaceuticals, they believe this bill is good and should pass.

To others that know the history of the supplement industry and the integrity it has stood for, this bill is unnecessary and unsubstantiated. To Americans that believe in the fundamental right of self-healing and natural products, SB 1310 is a potential problem that could lead to the further breakdown in our freedom of choice in health care.

This bill was introduced as the result of an infamous rogue company-outside of the “health food” industry-marketed a brownie with melatonin in it, without proper labeling. Senator Durbin claims he doesn’t want anything on the marketplace that might be a “detriment” to the consumer or that is unapproved by FDA. By contrast, Senator Durbin has chosen to ignore all the products on the market which are known to cause harm, such as hydrogenated fats, aspartame and genetically modified organisms. Perhaps he’s OK with these products because the FDA has “approved” them. Whatever the case, the FDA should address the particular company that created a brownie with melatonin in it-as the law allows them to do, rather than chastising an entire industry that has an unparalleled history of safety. Improper labeling is a concern for everyone and even though Coke is allowed to have a secret formula; those of us in the health food industry have always supported proper labeling procedures.

The proponents of this bill claim it will allow FDA to better protect the American people from the harm that supplements are presumed to cause. This inference that supplements are harming people is the first point of contention that many have with this bill. The appropriate question is; where are the deaths, and where are the mythical people that supposedly have been “harmed” by supplements?

After being in the health food industry for 37 years and personally witnessing thousands of people using supplements, I have never heard of nor do I know of anyone that has been harmed or died from taking a supplement; other than iron that has been prescribed by doctors for children. In the largest context, we know that over 160 million Americans take dietary supplements, making the United States the largest “test market” in the world. So again, where are all the harmed people that need to be protected from supplements?

The fact is; they don’t exist. According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, in 2009 they reported that there have been ZERO deaths attributable to vitamins in the last 27 years. Even examining the Center for Disease Control’s website, I was unable to find any statistics regarding supplements harming citizens, other than the prescription iron and toxicity in children. Oh yes, and a Chinese herbal aphrodisiac that was meant to be used topically. 5 men decided to ingest it; 4 of them died. What I did find very easily on the website is that the CDC clearly reports that there are 4x’s more deaths from prescription drugs than illicit and illegal drugs…so who is Senator Durbin trying to protect? Certainly not the American public utilizing supplements!

FDA has already been granted all the power they need to protect the public. In 1994 a historic federal law was passed; The Dietary Health and Supplement Education Act (DSHEA.) It was the first time that guidelines for the language of supplements had been spelled out and it gave full authority to the FDA to ensure the safety for the American public by allowing FDA the power to pull a product from the marketplace after harm has been proven or by companies making false claims. If there is a problem with a particular company or product in the market then they are choosing not to fully use the authority that DSHEA granted them.

Senate bill 1310 would mandate any facility producing dietary supplements to register a description of each dietary supplement being manufactured at that facility and a list of newly labeled or a product that has been discontinued by that company/facility. A copy of the label has to be submitted as well.

What is the reason for bullying supplement companies that have for many decades, been the leaders and visionaries in the business of supplements, leading with integrity and a willingness to work in compliance with FDA? The proposed regulations are unnecessary and will prove to be expensive both in terms of time and money and our personal liberties. This bill creates unreasonable regulations for companies that have an overwhelming history of producing safe products. Senator Durbin wants to add expensive and unnecessary regulations and penalize productivity and innovation in the field of natural products.

Call your legislators and tell them not to support SB1310. Call Senator Durbin’s office and respectfully request that he focus his energy and our money where it can best serve the public health; ensuring a safe food supply. Supplements are the answer, not the problem
